Netflix is heading to Italy for its next crime drama, titled “Sara – A Woman in the Shadow,” set to land on the streamer globally this Tuesday, June 3. This one centers on Sara, played by Teresa Saponangelo, a former secret service agent who thought she’d left that life behind. But when her son dies under shady circumstances, she’s pulled back into the world of spies and danger to find out what really happened.
To get back in the game, Sara calls on an old friend and former colleague named Teresa, played by Claudia Gerini. This reconnection is Sara’s way back into the intelligence world, a place she was once known in as “the invisible woman” for her ability to blend in. Even after time away, Sara still has her sharp skills, including a knack for reading lips, which will likely come in handy.
Sara’s search for answers about her son’s death pulls her into a wider web of crime. As she works through the case, she finds herself facing old threats she thought were long gone. It also forces her to piece together who her son was, uncovering parts of his life she didn’t know.
She won’t be working totally alone. Flavio Furno plays Pardo, a police officer who joins forces with Sara in her investigation. There’s also Chiara Celotto as Viola, a photographer who was the partner of Sara’s late son and is now expecting a child.
