A&E’s new series, Stadium Lockup, provides an inside look at the security operations during Cleveland Browns home games. The show follows the law enforcement and security teams as they deal with unruly fans and unexpected incidents within the stadium.

Here’s the Lowdown: Stadium Lockup premieres on Wednesday, March 19 at 9PM ET/PT. The ten-episode series shows the work of nearly 1,000 security personnel, including law enforcement, private security, and medical staff, as they manage the crowds of over 67,000 fans.

What This Means Now: Viewers get a unique perspective on what it takes to maintain order and safety at a major sporting event. The show features real-time monitoring of approximately 500 CCTV cameras from the stadium’s command center, documenting everything from minor disputes to serious incidents.

The Bigger Picture: This series highlights the often-unseen work that goes into ensuring a safe and (relatively) orderly environment at large-scale events. With a focus on the strict code of conduct enforced at the stadium, Stadium Lockup shows the consequences of rule-breaking, from ejections to arrests and a stay in one of the stadium’s four holding cells. It shows the tension on the field can often spill over into fan behavior.
