Ever had a brilliant idea for a product but lacked the know-how to make it a reality? BBC One’s new daytime series, The Big Idea Works, aims to bridge that gap, transforming everyday ingenuity into tangible inventions. Premiering Monday, February 3, the series follows Sara Davies and her team of experts as they guide aspiring inventors through the often-murky waters of product development.
In the first episode, “Perpetual Bird Feeder,” we meet Pat, whose vision for a mess-free, bird-and-gardener-friendly feeder has the potential to revolutionize backyard ornithology (or at least make things a little tidier). We also encounter Lorna and John, whose dream of an at-home spa experience, activated at the touch of a button, sounds like something straight out of a science fiction movie (or maybe just a really good catalog). Can Sara and her team turn these creative sparks into actual, functioning products? The series hinges on the inherent drama of the inventive process, the inevitable setbacks, and the eventual triumphs (hopefully).
The Big Idea Works premieres Monday, February 3 on BBC iPlayer.
