Good news for fans: Netflix’s heartwarming comedy “North of North” is officially coming back for a second season. As Netflix’s first original series commissioned out of Canada (produced alongside the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and APTN), its renewal is definitely a win for unique storytelling and this kind of cross-cultural collaboration.
The show tells the story of Siaja (Anna Lambe), a young Inuk woman figuring out life and love in the fictional community of Ice Cove, Nunavut. After a rather public breakup, Siaja has to piece her life back together, all set against stunning Arctic landscapes and the quirky charm of small-town living.
Star Anna Lambe shared her excitement about the renewal on TUDUM.com, saying she “can’t wait” to get back to Ice Cove and continue Siaja’s story.
Throughout the eight half-hour episodes of Season 1, viewers met a cast of supporting characters adding warmth and humor to Siaja’s world, played by actors like Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Tanya Tagaq. Created and executive produced by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, “North of North” is filmed on location in Iqaluit, Nunavut, and Toronto, Ontario.
