Requiem for Selina (original title: Rekviem for Selina), a new Norwegian drama, tells the story of the world’s first beauty blogger – a teenage outsider whose online diary unexpectedly changed the media landscape. The six-episode series premieres on NRK on March 15, 2025.
Here’s the Lowdown: Inspired by true events, the series follows 17-year-old Selina, played by Elli Müller Osborne (Ida Takes Charge, Royalteen, Hope), as she documents her life online. After a blog post about a “Mr. M,” bullying intensifies, and Selina’s attempt at revenge inadvertently turns her into a hugely influential, yet controversial, figure with a readership larger than Norway’s major newspapers.
What This Means Now: This series explores the early days of internet fame and the unexpected consequences of online influence, long before the term “influencer” even existed. It tackles themes of bullying, revenge, and the power of words in the digital age, making it relevant to today’s online world.
The Bigger Picture: Requiem for Selina has already gained international recognition, being nominated in the International Panorama category at Series Mania, a prestigious festival in Lille, France. Alongside the series, NRK is releasing a companion podcast episode of Seriesnakk, featuring interviews with some of Scandinavia’s earliest and most influential bloggers, such as Sophie Elise, Linnéa Myhre, Emilie “Voe” Nereng, and Morten Hegseth, providing real-life context to the fictional story. The podcast also drops on March 15, 2025. Key cast members, alongside Osborne, are Oliver Sletvold Andersen, in his acting debut, Veslemøy Mørkrid (Occupied, Beforeigners), Pål Sverre Hagen (Exit, Kon-Tiki), Jon Øigarden (Exit, Mammon), and Marit Andreassen (22 July).
