Airing on the anniversary of the tragic event, National Geographic’s “Oklahoma City Bombing: One Day in America” continues its harrowing account of the worst domestic terrorist attack in American history. The second episode, “Manhunt,” picks up in the immediate aftermath of the bombing, as panic grips the city and a nationwide search for the perpetrators begins.
Amidst the chaos, reports of a second explosive device create waves of fear, forcing an evacuation and leaving survivors trapped beneath the rubble. First responders, though driven by instinct to rescue, are forced to withdraw, torn between their duty and the threat of further devastation.
As the dust settles, the FBI launches a massive manhunt, a race against time to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Former President Bill Clinton and former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating appear in the episode, sharing their recollections and offering a perspective on the national response to the tragedy.
Through eyewitness accounts, including survivor Amy Downs and Edye Raines, whose children were missing in the chaos, “Manhunt” conveys the sheer terror and uncertainty of those initial hours. FBI Special Agent in Charge Bob Ricks also provides insights into the investigation that ensued. The episode airs Wednesday, April 2nd at 9:00 PM ET on National Geographic. The third and final episode airs directly after.
