Oprah Winfrey hosts a new primetime special, “AI and the Future of Us: An Oprah Winfrey Special,” airing on Thursday, September 12, on ABC and the following day on Hulu. The one-hour program investigates the world of artificial intelligence, explaining the technology and examining its significant impact on our lives.
Winfrey conducts interviews with prominent figures in the AI industry, including Sam Altman, CEO of Open AI, who simplifies the complexities of AI, and Microsoft co-founder and Chair of the Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, who discusses AI’s implications across sectors. YouTube creator and technologist Marques Brownlee joins Winfrey to demonstrate AI’s capabilities, while Tristan Harris and Aza Raskin from the Center for Humane Technology provide insights into emerging risks and ethical considerations.
The special also includes an interview with FBI Director Christopher Wray, who shares information on how criminals and foreign adversaries are using AI, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marilynne Robinson offers a reflection on AI’s potential threat to human values.
