Our Lives returns to BBC iPlayer for its eighth season, with a diverse collection of documentaries from various regions across the UK. The season premieres on Friday, August 16, 2024, with a lineup of stories that celebrate the richness and uniqueness of British society.

The season continues with “The Dinohunters,” which shines a spotlight on the dedicated individuals, both amateur and professional, who are unearthing ancient secrets and making groundbreaking discoveries about dinosaurs in Wales.

“Our Yorkshire Stately Home” takes viewers to Wentworth Woodhouse, one of England’s grandest stately homes. Once facing deterioration, the mansion has been rescued by the local community. This documentary follows the dedicated volunteers and workers as they strive to restore the South Yorkshire gem to its former splendor.

In “The Secret Lives of Lighthouse Keepers,” audiences are given a rare glimpse into the working lives of the teams responsible for maintaining 208 lighthouses around the coast of Scotland and the Isle of Man, ensuring the safety of maritime travelers.

“Secrets of the Lost Mines” follows historian Ioan Lord and dairy farmer Al Tansey, an unlikely duo united by their shared passion for the past, as they explore the abandoned metal mines of Mid Wales, unearthing forgotten stories and historical insights.

“The Journey to Scotland’s Remotest Pub” intertwines the tale of two friends’ voyage to a distant pub with the captivating stories of the residents of the enchanting Knoydart peninsula.

“Pets Saving Lives” profiles specially trained search and rescue dogs and their volunteer handlers from Northern Ireland. These courageous animals and their companions risk their lives to find missing people, showcasing the power of the bond between humans and their four-legged friends.

“The Lakes: Our Life on the Edge,” follows Anna and Mat, a couple dealing life’s challenges through an ambitious 100-mile climbing challenge in the picturesque Lakes.
