SBS and NITV present “Our Medicine,” a six-part documentary series taking a rare look into the lives of First Nations medical workers across Australia. Narrated by Leah Purcell AM, the series premieres this Thursday with a double round of reality, airing the first two episodes back-to-back. It’s a look at healthcare on the front lines, focusing on the doctors, nurses, paramedics, and traditional healers working tirelessly to improve health outcomes in their communities.

Episode One takes viewers from Cairns, where we witness Dr. Bond treating a machete wound, to Fitzroy Crossing, where ancient remedies are still practiced by healers. The episode also joins paramedics in Yarrabah as they provide assistance to a cowboy in need. Episode Two shifts the focus to Darwin with ophthalmologist Dr. Kris Rallah-Baker, then to Brisbane where Nathan awaits a kidney transplant. Back in Yarrabah, paramedics respond to a major crash.

“Our Medicine” premieres Thursday, 29 May at 7:30 PM, simulcast on SBS and NITV, and will also be available on SBS On Demand.
