The ongoing renovation saga of Keith Brymer Jones and Marj Hogarth’s 163-year-old chapel continues this Tuesday on Channel 4. “Our Welsh Chapel Dream” finds the couple knee-deep in plaster dust and design dilemmas as they transform their unique Pwllheli property into a dream home.
This week’s project: a Victorian-inspired parlor bathroom. Keith, never one to shy away from a creative challenge, takes inspiration from the grandeur of Coventry Cathedral for a rather ambitious clay candlestick holder. Meanwhile, Marj tackles a more intimate project, crafting a bespoke lampshade for the bathroom’s standard lamp.
As always, the series presents a mix of practical renovation advice, glimpses into the couple’s creative process, and the inevitable (and often humorous) hiccups that come with tackling a large-scale restoration. From the initial demolition to the finishing touches, viewers get a feel for the sweat equity involved in breathing new life into an old building. And with Keith’s pottery expertise and Marj’s keen eye for design, the results are rarely less than stunning, even if it’s a black bathroom.
Catch “Our Welsh Chapel Dream” on Tuesday, 15 April, at 8:00 PM on Channel 4.
