The epic romance at the heart of “Outlander” stems from the union of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall. Now, fans will get a look at the beginnings of the families that created that famous couple, as the prequel series “Outlander: Blood of my Blood” is set to debut.
This new show is coming to STARZ on Friday, August 8. It focuses on the parents of Jamie and Claire: Julia Moriston, played by Hermione Corfield, and Henry Beauchamp, played by Jeremy Irvine, alongside Ellen MacKenzie, played by Harriet Slater, and Brian Fraser, played by Jamie Roy.
The story moves between two distinct eras and places. It travels from the battlefields of WWI to the Scottish Highlands of the 18th century. Across these settings, the program tells two love stories, exploring themes of loyalty, passion, and desire as the young couples face challenges aiming to pull them apart.
Beyond the central four, the cast includes Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan – figures familiar from early seasons of “Outlander.” Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner and executive producer, working with executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg. Sony Pictures Television handles production for the series.
The series aims to welcome those new to the “Outlander” universe with fresh characters and storylines while also giving longtime fans origin tales for key people and providing fresh viewpoints that might change how folks see the original series. New episodes will arrive weekly on Fridays, available on the STARZ app, streaming platforms, and on demand, as well as airing linearly on STARZ in the U.S. at 8:00 pm ET/PT and in Canada at 9:00 pm ET/PT.
