Outlander and its upcoming prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood are joining forces for a global fan play ahead of the spinoff’s debut this summer.
Starz will host a joint livestream event on Sunday, June 1, dubbed Outlander & Blood of My Blood: The Gathering, bringing together cast members from both series to celebrate World Outlander Day. The virtual reunion begins at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT and will stream on the network’s official YouTube channel.
The move lands two months out from the launch of Blood of My Blood, which premieres Thursday, August 8. The prequel explores the early love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents—Ellen MacKenzie & Brian Fraser, and Julia Moriston & Henry Beauchamp—and is positioned as a key expansion of the franchise’s mythos.
A first-look teaser (see below) released in tandem with the announcement gives fans a generational meet-up moment, with Outlander leads Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan appearing opposite the new actors portraying their on-screen parents.
The franchise crossover plays into the core appeal of the Outlander brand—epic romance and generational family bonds—while also helping to pass the torch as Starz preps a long runway for Blood of My Blood.
Additional cast appearing during the livestream include Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, and John Bell, along with several key newcomers from the prequel.
World Outlander Day marks the anniversary of the publication of Diana Gabaldon’s original novel, which launched the book series that continues to anchor the screen adaptation.
The Gathering effectively ties the original series to its prequel in a single fan-forward event—part nostalgia, part rollout—as Starz looks to keep the momentum going across both titles.
