OWN Dating Series “Ready to Love” Season 8 Premiere This July.
On Friday, July 7 at 8 p.m. EST | 7 p.m. CST, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere the brand-new eighth season of its hit love and relationship dating series “Ready to Love.”
What is Ready to Love About
This isn’t your mother’s “let’s fall in love in thirty minutes or less” dating show; the participants of “Ready to Love” are all in their 30s and 40s and looking for that one true love who has eluded them so far. It’s clear that the old adage “The course of love never did run smooth” is more relevant than ever when all these hopeful singles get together to try to find “the one.” At the Dallas Mansion Mixer that sets 18 attractive and successful singles on the sometimes rocky road to love, the romantic high drama is palpable from the moment they lay eyes on each other.
Women will choose one of the men to eliminate from their pool of potential suitors, and men will do the same by eliminating one of the women, all before the Mansion Mixer ends. Since a contestant is booted off the show every week, the remaining singles have to play to stay in the competition for as long as possible to increase their odds of finding love. Drama, love triangles, and broken hearts throughout the season threaten new relationships but ultimately strengthen the ones that survive.

Host Tommy Miles issues dating challenges to help couples get to know one another and encourages daters to be honest and open with their dates to foster deeper connections. It could be as simple as introducing your new love interest to your family and friends, or as complicated as asking your ex to meet your new love interest. But you can count on drama every time someone unpacks their bags, no matter how straightforward the task at hand.
Among African-American women aged 18 and up on Friday nights in 2022, the show was the most watched original cable series.
