Paramount+ Confirms Final Season for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as Season 3 Sets Summer Launch

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Paramount+ has set a summer premiere for Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and confirmed that the sci-fi prequel will end with a sixth-episode fifth season now slated to film in 2025.

Season 3 debuts with a two-episode premiere on Thursday, July 17, followed by weekly releases through to September 11. The new season continues the adventures of the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, with returning cast including Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck.

The series has already wrapped production on its fourth season and is expected to shoot its fifth and final installment late next year. The decision to close the show with a shorter final run aligns with Paramount’s broader streaming cost recalibrations and focus on franchise consolidation.

Strange New Worlds has remained a high performer for the platform—both critically and internationally—garnering multiple award nominations and Certified Fresh status for its first two seasons. It also helped anchor Paramount+’s global rollout, streaming across markets including the U.S., U.K., Australia, and key European territories.

Its conclusion leaves Starfleet Academy and Section 31 as the next wave of franchise titles, alongside ongoing runs of Lower Decks and Discovery. For fans, this marks the beginning of the end for a series that balanced episodic storytelling with prequel mythology and brought renewed critical attention to the long-running franchise.
