Chef and culinary storyteller Pati Jinich takes viewers on a new adventure this Tuesday with “Pati Jinich Explores Panamericana.” In “Alberta – Canada’s Changing Heartland,” Pati ventures north along the symbolic Pan-American Highway, trading the familiar warmth of Mexican kitchens for the rugged landscape of western Canada.

This first episode looks at the evolving cultural identity of Alberta, a region often associated with its cowboy heritage. Pati immerses herself in this culture, but also examines the influence of the vibrant immigrant communities in Edmonton and Calgary that are reshaping the region’s identity. Through food, conversations, and firsthand experiences, she uncovers the human stories behind these changes.

“Pati Jinich Explores Panamericana” airs Tuesday, May 13 at 9:00 PM ET on PBS.
