CBC's Comedy Run The Burbs Season 3 Now Underway

Andrew Phung is set to reunite with former Kim’s Convenience co-stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Nicole Power in upcoming episodes of the CBC original comedy series RUN THE BURBS. The show, currently in its third season, airs on Tuesdays at 9:30pm on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service.

In an episode titled “PHIRST LOVE,” Nicole Power will make a guest appearance as Lisa, the ex-wife of the Phams’ neighbor Hudson. Her return to town interrupts Andrew and Camille’s plans for a ‘date day,’ requiring them to run interference.

For the season finale, titled “SUMMER PHORECAST,” Paul Sun-Hyung Lee will guest star as Andrew’s personal hero, municipal councillor Vernon Park. Andrew is thrilled when Park offers him advice on expanding Rockridge’s summer camp program but soon realizes their interests may not align.

Andrew Phung expressed his excitement about reuniting with his former castmates: “I loved making Kim’s Convenience…Simply put, Paul and Nicole are the best at what they do…reuniting with them on screen this season means everything to me.”

RUN THE BURBS co-creator Scott Townend also shared his enthusiasm about working with Phung and bringing Lee and Power onto the show: “There are always a few characters each season that we write with certain actors in mind…having Nicole and Paul come play with us was genuinely a dream come true…they brought so much warmth, comedy, and heart to set.”

Karen Tsang, Executive Producer at Pier 21 Films, added: “Paul and Nicole are both singular talents…We’re excited for fans to see their individual reunions with Andrew.”

RUN THE BURBS follows suburban dad Andrew Pham (played by Andrew Phung) as he navigates life in the suburbs alongside his wife Camille (Rakhee Morzaria) and their children Khia (Zoriah Wong) and Leo (Roman Pesino). The show also features Ali Hassan, Julie Nolke, Jonathan Langdon, Chris Locke, Samantha Wan, and Gavin Crawford.

Co-created by Andrew Phung and filmmaker Scott Townend, RUN THE BURBS is a comedy that explores life in the suburbs, eccentric neighbors, and a supportive family. Season three has already showcased the Pham family’s adventures in cottage country, Halloween celebrations, neighborhood yard sales, trips to Asian buffets, and turning Bubble Bae into an early hours nightclub. The show is known for its thoughtful representation of an Indian and Vietnamese family.
