In the series premiere of Paula McIntyre’s Hamely Kitchen USA, Paula McIntyre heads off to the United States, exploring the influence of Ulster-Scots on American cuisine. The journey begins in Franklin, Tennessee, where Paula, a self-proclaimed Dolly Parton fan, meets with Rachel Parton George, Dolly’s sister, and a renowned family cook.
Rachel introduces Paula to her first-ever catfish dish, a true Southern delight. The exploration of Southern flavours continues with a barbecue feast in Gatlinburg and a thrilling rodeo experience. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Smoky Mountains, Paula prepares two special dishes in her outdoor cabin kitchen: grilled river trout with crispy country ham and a unique dessert of grilled peaches with bourbon-smoked salt sauce on waffles, accompanied by grilled green beans and almond dressing.
