In the final episode of Phillip Schofield: Cast Away, the TV veteran concludes his ten-day survival challenge on a remote tropical island off the coast of Madagascar. Alone and without a film crew, Schofield has endured the harsh environment and faced the mental challenges of total isolation.
The Channel 5 reality show sees Schofield, who has graced our screens for over 40 years, take on one of his most demanding endeavors yet. After a day of survival training, he sets off on his journey, excited and optimistic about the experience ahead. However, gale-force winds on the very first night test his resilience and optimism.
After his troubles of the last couple of years that saw Schofield leaving his long time hosting on ITV’s This Morning over allegations of an affair with a younger male colleague, Cast Away is something of a redemptive last throw of the dice. There is the chance that Schofields honesty during his time alone on the island could kick start his career or it could be a suitable signing off of his TV career.
