Is it even a proper Super Bowl party without a mountain of snacks? Ree Drummond clearly understands the assignment. This week on The Pioneer Woman, she’s tackling game-day eats, and the menu sounds like a touchdown for anyone who values flavor and ease.
Drummond, never one for complicated kitchen acrobatics, is focusing on recipes that can be whipped up without a fuss, leaving you more time to, you know, actually watch the game. Sure, some people enjoy spending hours prepping elaborate dishes, but the rest of us appreciate a host who understands the importance of a quick and dirty (but still delicious) spread.
The star of this culinary lineup? A Chocolate Devil Cake that sounds like it might be worth committing a few minor sins for. Drummond calls it “game-changing,” a phrase perhaps better suited to a last-minute Hail Mary pass, but we’ll suspend our cynicism until we’ve had a slice.
And because variety is the spice of life (and the key to pleasing a crowd of picky eaters), the episode also features Smash Tacos. These Franken-foods, combining the best of burgers and tacos, sound either brilliantly innovative or terrifyingly misguided. Again, we’ll reserve judgment. Rounding out the menu are Sticky Chicken Legs and Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Dogs – classic game-day fare with a Drummond twist.
This episode of The Pioneer Woman seems custom-made for those of us who prefer to spend more time cheering and less time chained to the stove. Whether the Chocolate Devil Cake truly lives up to its name will be determined by our taste buds, but Drummond’s approachable style and simple recipes already make this a win in our book.
