For those dreaming of a life abroad, “A Place In The Sun: What Happened Next?” brings a welcome dose of vicarious living. This Wednesday, Channel 4 revisits two couples who took the plunge and bought their dream homes in the sun. Did their gamble pay off? Are they still sipping sangria by the pool or tending their olive groves with a contented sigh?
First up, Laura Hamilton catches up with Steph and Gordon, who, back in 2021, bought a holiday home near the ever-popular Torrevieja on Spain’s Costa Blanca. Drawn to the quieter, more authentic Spanish village vibes of Benijófar, away from the tourist bustle of Torrevieja proper, they found their perfect traditional townhouse. We’ll see how they’ve settled in, the changes they’ve made to the property, and even partake in a bit of homemade sangria and a fitness session with their personal trainer.
Then, Jean Johansson jets off to rural France to visit Chris and Sue, who purchased a charming cottage in the Limousin region back in 2020. Seeking a slower pace of life, they found it amidst the rolling hills and tranquil countryside. Famous for its cheeses, this region offers a deep connection to nature. Jean gets put to work before enjoying a game of pétanque and a picnic, finding out if their stone cottage renovation is complete and if Limousin life is still living up to their expectations.
Join the reunions on Channel 4 this Wednesday, 26 March at 6:00 PM.
