Police Interceptors: Stingers, Manhunts, and Tasers (Channel 5, Monday, December 9, 2024)

Channel 5’s Police Interceptors returns with a new episode that could be mistaken for a Hollywood action flick. This isn’t your average procedural where paperwork piles up and villains monologue; this is real-world policing at its most frenetic, where a stinger mishap, a frantic manhunt, and a taser takedown all transpire within a single shift.

First up, Interceptor Rob Harfleet experiences the sting of, well, a stinger. Ironically, the device, meant to halt a fleeing suspect, catches Harfleet instead.

Then, things escalate when the Firearms Squad storms a house in pursuit of a wanted individual and suspected firearms. The suspect manages to give them the slip, initiating a day-long manhunt. Spoiler alert: it involves a pavement struggle and a liberal application of tasers. Let’s just say the suspect probably regrets that extra cup of coffee.

Meanwhile, Interceptor Callum finds himself wrestling with a driver who’s clearly not operating on caffeine alone. After a car chase, Callum’s forced to deploy his taser to subdue the coked-up suspect, who proves remarkably resistant to authority.

As if that weren’t enough, Interceptors Callum and Stewart stumble upon a drunk driver serenading the neighborhood with some late-night tunes. Because nothing says “responsible citizen” like a mobile disco at 3 a.m.

Elsewhere in the episode, viewers can expect a potential dognapping and a near-miss incident, adding further fuel to this already explosive hour of television. While the initial suspect evades capture during the raid, the Firearms Squad does manage to recover two suspected firearms. Small victories, right?

Police Interceptors airs Monday, December 9, 2024 at 8:00 PM, on Channel 5.
