The sun-drenched streets of Bermuda might seem like a world away from the pressures of everyday policing, but BBC One’s “Policing Paradise” continues to show the diverse challenges faced by the officers who keep the island safe. Thursday’s episode focuses on the rigorous training of new recruits, the ever-present risks of police work, and even a touch of romance.
Fourteen new recruits, including UK-born Holly Lavigne-Smith, a former paediatric nurse, face the intense pressure of public order training. Their goal is to join the Bermuda Police Service, but first, they must prove they can handle the heat – literally and figuratively. Out on the streets, Officers Chris Douglas and Nick Akle investigate a man behaving suspiciously near the police station, while Officer Jonathan Wood and Sasha Franks stop a moped rider endangering his four-year-old daughter by using his phone while driving.
Amidst the demands of police work, there’s also time for a bit of romance. British officer Woody welcomes his new girlfriend Daniele from Peru, treating her to a picturesque boat cruise around Bermuda’s stunning coastline.
“Policing Paradise” airs Thursday, 27 March at 14:00 on BBC One.
