CBS’s “Poppa’s House” delivers a dose of family sitcom charm with a touch of heartfelt drama this Monday. In the episode “Babygirl,” airing at 8:30 PM ET, talk radio host “Poppa” is less than impressed when his daughter, Natalie (Amora Wayans), arrives with some big news: she’s engaged!
The happy announcement, however, carries some emotional baggage. Natalie still blames her father for her parents’ divorce and refuses to speak to him. Her brother, Junior, the ever-optimistic dreamer trying to balance his own career aspirations with family life, sees the upcoming wedding as a chance to mend the rift. He tries to persuade Natalie to forgive their dad, but family wounds run deep, and reconciliation is never a sure thing.
Directed by Robert Townsend, with a script co-written by Cara Mia Wayans and Kyla Wayans, “Babygirl” looks like a blend of humor and heart, tackling the complications of family relationships with a light touch.
