CBS has decided not to renew the comedy series “Poppa’s House” for a second season. The show, starring Damon Wayans Sr. and Jr., will conclude its run with the final episode airing next Monday, April 28th.
After broadcasting 18 episodes, “Poppa’s House” joins a growing list of CBS cancellations this year, including “FBI: Most Wanted,” “FBI: International,” and “S.W.A.T.” The network is still considering the fate of “The Equalizer.”
The series featured a strong comedic cast, with Essence Atkins and Tetona Jackson appearing alongside the Wayans duo. Damon Wayans Sr. co-created “Poppa’s House” with Kevin Hench.
In addition to starring in the sitcom, Damon Wayans Jr. also held the role of executive producer, collaborating with his father, Kevin Hench, Dean Lorey, Michael Petok, and Andy Ackerman. “Poppa’s House” was a joint production by several companies, including CBS Studios, Two Shakes Entertainment, Lorey Stories, Hench in the Trench Productions, and NuSystems Productions. While the show’s time on CBS may be ending, fans can still catch the final episode next Monday.
