Preakness Stakes: The 150th Preakness Stakes (NBC, Saturday, May 17, 2025)

NBC Logo

It’s a historic running as the 150th Preakness Stakes gallops onto NBC this Saturday, live from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. This isn’t just any Preakness; it’s the final race at this storied venue before demolition and extensive redevelopment begin.

The “Run for the Black-Eyed Susans” will relocate to Laurel Park for 2026 before returning to a revamped Pimlico in 2027. This year’s event takes on added significance, a final farewell to the track as it currently stands. This makes this 150th race even more of a spectacle.

Among the contenders vying for the second jewel of the Triple Crown are Journalism, the 8-5 morning-line favorite looking for redemption after finishing second in the Kentucky Derby; Sandman, hoping to rebound from a disappointing Derby finish after his Arkansas Derby (G1) victory; Clever Again, with momentum from his Hot Springs Stakes (LS) win; and River Thames, the runner-up in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2).
