Prime Video has ordered two seasons of ‘Scarpetta’, based on Patricia Cornwell’s internationally acclaimed novels. The series will star Oscar and Emmy-winning actresses Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, and is produced by Blumhouse Television.
Liz Sarnoff, Emmy-nominated writer, is set to write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner. David Gordon Green will direct the first two episodes. The story focuses on Kay Scarpetta, played by Kidman, a forensic pathologist who returns to her former role as Chief Medical Examiner in Virginia. Curtis will portray Scarpetta’s sister, Dorothy.
The cast includes Bobby Cannavale as former detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, Ariana DeBose as Lucy Farinelli-Watson, Rosy McEwen as a younger Kay Scarpetta, and Jake (son of Bobby) Cannavale as a younger Pete Marino.
The series is a co-production between Blumhouse Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Blossom Films, and Comet Pictures. Kidman and Curtis will executive produce alongside Sarnoff, Patricia Cornwell, Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, Chris McCumber, Per Saari, David Gordon Green, and Amy Sayres.
