Prime Video is diving into the world of romantic deception with new docuseries ROMCON: Who the F**k is Jason Porter?, set to drop Thursday, June 13. The two-parter unpacks a high-stakes scam that rocked Toronto’s dating scene and left a trail of emotional and financial wreckage.
The story centers on Heather Rovet, a top-tier Toronto real estate broker who spent three years in a relationship with a man she knew as “Jace.” What she didn’t know: he was actually Jason Porter, a convicted con artist with a string of victims and a long-running pattern of manipulation.
After the mask drops, Rovet launches her own investigation—connecting with other women, piecing together the truth, and turning the tables on her former partner. It’s a twisty, emotional ride that positions Rovet as both subject and sleuth, with Prime Video leaning into the raw, personal stakes.
ROMCON blends survivor interviews, archival footage, and stylized reconstructions to unpack how Porter pulled off his scams—and how his victims pushed back. It also puts the spotlight on the rising threat of romance fraud and the legal gray areas surrounding emotional exploitation.
Ahead of its streaming release, the series will premiere at NXNE in Toronto on June 12 and screen in Montreal on June 15, giving it a festival runway before landing on platform.
