The Prison Chronicles documentary series, airing on History, takes viewers inside some of the world’s most notorious prisons, and the latest episode is no exception. This instalment, titled “Andersonville,” explores the deadly prison in the heart of the Confederacy during the American Civil War.

Despite only being open for 14 months, Andersonville became the final resting place for over 12,000 men, earning its reputation as the deadliest American prison.
