Hallmark’s “Private Princess Christmas” Premieres Friday, December 6

Private Princess Christmas Key Art

So, another Hallmark Christmas movie. Big surprise. But hold on – this one might actually offer something resembling a new idea. Forget charming bakers and big-city professionals returning to their quaint hometowns; this time, we’ve got royalty tackling basic training. Is this a holiday miracle or just another tinsel-covered trope?

In “Private Princess Christmas,” Ali Skovbye plays Princess Violet of Wingravia, a royal who seems to enjoy the privileges of her title a tad more than the responsibilities. Queen Erica Durance, clearly no-nonsense in the tiara, delivers an ultimatum: complete a rigorous leadership boot camp in Colorado or say “sayonara” to the throne. Her uncle is apparently waiting in the, well, wings.

Shipped off to the snowy mountains, Princess Violet and her fellow cadets face the trials and tribulations of boot camp under the watchful eye of Captain Ryan Douglas, played with stoic charm by Derek Klena. Expect plenty of awkward falls, inspirational speeches, and maybe even a little romantic tension amidst the obstacle courses. Because, well, Hallmark.

Will Princess Violet trade her tiara for fatigues and embrace the spirit of hard work? Will she find love in the frosty wilderness? Will her uncle finally get his gloved hands on the crown? Tune in to find out if this royal pain can transform into a leader, or if she’ll simply remain a princess in private.

Private Princess Christmas airs Friday, December 6 at 8/7c on Hallmark.
