Production Begins on SBS and NITV’s Fremantle Crime Drama Reckless

Reckless Key Art

SBS and NITV have kicked off production on Reckless, a four-part crime thriller with a dark comic streak, filming now in Fremantle, Western Australia.

The series stars Tasma Walton and Hunter Page-Lochard as siblings caught in the fallout of a hit and run gone wrong. It’s an Australian rework of the BBC’s Guilt, but the local version swaps Edinburgh for the sunburnt streets of WA and builds out its own tone, cast, and rhythm.

Kodie Bedford leads as executive producer and co-writer, pushing to make the project “unapologetically Western Australian.” Beck Cole directs, with Jessica De Gouw, Clarence Ryan, Jane Harber, and Tracy Mann among the broader ensemble. Stuart Page shares writing duties.

Behind the scenes, production is handled by Andy Walker, with Kylie Washington and Bedford also executive producing. Megan Palinkas and Cole are co-executive producers. Fiona McConaghy rounds out the team as co-producer.

SBS and NITV have flagged the series as a priority play in their upcoming slate, calling out its tight pacing, bold characters, and Indigenous-led creative. It’s also another signal of the platforms’ deeper investment in premium local scripted—particularly titles with distinctive regional and cultural identities.

Reckless will launch on NITV, SBS and SBS On Demand later this year.
