The murky world of witness protection gets even more complicated in this Sunday’s “Protection.” Episode 5, “In Too Deep,” finds DI Liz Nyles (Siobhan Finneran) on the edge as a startling discovery shakes up her investigation. As she gets closer to the truth, she also finds herself uncomfortably close to the dangerous gangster Crowther. Just how deep is Liz willing to go to crack this case?
With only one episode left after this, the tension is ratcheting up. “Protection” doesn’t shy away from the moral compromises and cloak-and-dagger secrecy inherent in the witness protection game. Liz’s pursuit of justice is taking her down a precarious path, and “In Too Deep” looks to be a pivotal episode in the series.
