Puffin Rock is officially back on the schedule. The third season of the hit preschool franchise—produced by Cartoon Saloon and Dog Ears—lands this September on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and RTEjr and RTE Player in Ireland.
Narrated once again by Chris O’Dowd, the upcoming 21-episode run marks a fresh push for the brand following the recent feature Puffin Rock and the New Friends. Each episode clocks in at seven minutes, continuing the gentle rhythm and island-set charm that’s helped make the show a cornerstone of preschool schedules on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Season 3 adds new characters Isabelle, Phoenix, and Marvin to the returning cast, alongside longtime favourites Oona, Baba, May, and Mossy. Behind the camera, Jeremy Purcell—director of the franchise’s film—returns to helm the new batch, ensuring tonal and visual continuity for what’s become a quietly durable international player in the preschool space.
Cartoon Saloon and Dog Ears lead the production, with backing from Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen, Coimisiún na Meán, and both CBeebies and RTEjr. Superights continues to handle global sales for the property, which remains one of the few animated titles that has translated across broadcast and on-demand platforms with consistent cross-border appeal.
Production leadership includes Paul Young, Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey, and John McDaid, with exec producers Gerry Shirren and Fionnuala Deane.
