Puppy Bowl XIX to Simulcast Across Multiple Channels This February
On Sunday, February 12, 2023, at 2:00PM ET / 11:00AM PT, the Puppy Bowl will return for its 19th year, and for the first time, it will be simulcast across Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TBS, HBO Max, and discovery+, giving a whole new audience the chance to watch the original and longest running call-to-adoption TV event.
Talent from the “Street Outlaws” franchise on Discovery Channel, the upcoming film “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” by New Line Cinema, and some of the biggest sports personalities from Warner Bros. Discovery Sports will be featured in this year’s program.
The tremendous work of rescue and shelter workers who spend their lives helping animals find forever homes will be showcased at Puppy Bowl XIX, which will include more puppies and adoption stories than ever before. 122 puppies from 67 shelters and rescues in 34 states will compete in Puppy Bowl XIX, which will also feature a Native American animal group and a puppy player from Dominica, West Indies for the first time.
At 1:00PM ET/ 10:00AM PT, a pre-game presentation will give viewers an inside look at the Puppy Bowl draft through interviews with the coaches and players. Audiences may find out which puppy player has a furry advantage by learning more about their breed mix and other unique qualities using the results of a Wisdom PanelTM dog DNA test.
The PEDIGREE® Starting Lineup will take the field to begin the game, and as the game progresses, we’ll see which puppy player has what it takes to be crowned the BISSELL® MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) or to win the SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. Underdog Award.
For the twelfth year in a row, sportscasters Steve Levy and Taylor Rooks will give play-by-play commentary, and referee Dan Schachner will oversee the stumbles and tumbles, calling all the puppy penalties and touchdowns. PEDIGREE ®, the show’s title sponsor, will also bring back the popular “Adoptable Pup” parts from last year’s Puppy Bowl. During the game, 11 different shelters across the country will each have one of their adoptable puppies on display, and during KITTY HALF-TIME, three different shelters will have kittens available for adoption. The Puppy Cheer Squad, the coveted water-bowl cam, the slo-mo cam, and end zone pylon cameras will all be back to capture all the action, and there will be a brand-new behind-the-scenes look at the puppy players’ red-carpet appearances.
The SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. “Pup Close and Personal” segments, which feature in-depth interviews with the cute athletes and their families, are also back. Inya, a Chihuahua/miniature Pinscher mix rescued by the Phoenix-based NAGI Foundation working to restore the sacredness of the Native American community by uniting people and animals, and Cooper, a Boston terrier/boxer mix from Seattle Humane, mark the Emerald City’s debut in Puppy Bowl with a visit to the Seattle Seahawks’ Training Camp.
Eleven puppies with special needs will also be playing in the game and looking for forever homes. These puppies include Mykonos, an American Staffordshire Terrier/Bulldog with a cleft palate, and Marmalade, a Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog with vision and hearing impairments.
Puppy Bowl XIX is produced for Animal Planet and discovery+ by Bright Spot Content, an All3Media America company.
