Bobby Berk, best known for Queer Eye, has landed his first TV role since leaving the Netflix show. He’ll be acting in, co-creating, and executive producing a new comedy series called Strikers.
Here’s the Lowdown: Strikers is a six-episode comedy about Amar Farooqi (played by co-creator Dana Abraham), a former MLB pitcher whose career ends due to injury. He finds a new opportunity leading a struggling cricket team owned by a steel company, allowing him to reconnect with his South Asian heritage. Berk plays Amar’s manager, Mickey. Other cast members include Shaun Majumder and Nazanin Mandi.
What This Means Now: Berk is moving on from Queer Eye with a project that sees him taking on multiple roles. Production on the independent series Strikers is scheduled to begin in the summer.
The Bigger Picture: Berk’s departure from Queer Eye followed the show’s eighth season. He has clarified that there was no cast feud, explaining that he and other cast members had initially considered not returning, but some changed their minds. Berk, however, had already made other plans. Strikers represents a significant career shift for Berk, moving from reality TV to a scripted comedy, while also taking on behind-the-scenes responsibilities.
