In the season four premiere of Race Across the World, viewers will be immersed in an exhilarating 15,000-kilometre adventure as five teams of intrepid Brits battle it out in a race across eastern Asia.
The fourth series, airing on BBC One on Wednesday 10 April, takes the teams on a remarkable journey from the northernmost part of Japan to the idyllic Indonesian island of Lombok. With no flights or smartphones allowed, the competitors must navigate their way through multiple countries, each duo armed only with the cash equivalent of the airfare from Sapporo to Lombok.
The race kicks off in Sapporo, Hokkaido, with the teams facing a daunting 1,600-kilometre journey to the first checkpoint in Nara City. Among the competitors are trainee pilot Owen and football referee Alfie, best friends since childhood, who take a bold strategy by fast-tracking to Tokyo. Retired couple Stephen and Viv seek one last thrilling adventure, while mother-daughter duos Sharon and Brydie, and Eugenie and Isabel, along with siblings Betty and James, round out the diverse cast.
As the teams navigate their way through Japan, they encounter cultural clashes and stunning landscapes. With a myriad of route options, the competitors must rely on their wits, determination, and adaptability to reach the checkpoint, setting the tone for an intense and unpredictable race.
Race Across the World will test the teams’ physical and emotional limits as they push themselves to reach the finish line first and claim the £20,000 cash prize.
Race Across the World Series 4 Episode 1 airs on BBC One at 9:00 pm on Wednesday, 10 April 2024.
