Culinary alchemist Rachael Ray continues her quest to combine seemingly disparate ingredients into (hopefully) edible creations. This time, on Monday, February 3’s episode of Rachael Ray’s Meals in Minutes, she’s tackling the “Reuben Hot Dog.” Yes, you read that correctly. Apparently, someone, somewhere, thought it would be a good idea to meld the flavors of a classic Reuben sandwich with the all-American hot dog. The result? Well, that remains to be tasted.
This culinary mashup will undoubtedly raise some eyebrows. Reubens are known for their corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing, all served on rye bread. Hot dogs, on the other hand, are…well, they’re hot dogs. One can only imagine how Ray will incorporate these contrasting elements. Will she stuff sauerkraut into the hot dog bun? Melt Swiss cheese over a pile of corned beef and wieners? Drizzle thousand island dressing onto a frankfurter? The possibilities are both endless and slightly terrifying.
And as if the Reuben Hot Dog wasn’t enough, Ray’s also adding fries to the mix. Because why not? This episode of Meals in Minutes is either going to be a stroke of genius or a culinary train wreck. Tune in to FYI at 9:30 PM Eastern Time on Monday, February 3 to find out.
