USA has dropped the official trailer for The Rainmaker, its high-profile adaptation of John Grisham’s 1995 legal thriller, now reimagined as a weekly courtroom drama led by Milo Callaghan in breakout mode. The series premieres Friday, August 15 at 10 PM ET/PT, with episodes set to stream on Peacock one week later.
Showrun by Michael Seitzman—who’s also executive producing alongside John Grisham, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert, and Jason Blum—The Rainmaker brings a modernized, serialized spin to the David-and-Goliath courtroom battle that first hit the screen in the 1997 Francis Ford Coppola film.
Callaghan plays Rudy Baylor, a newly minted attorney barely scraping by until a case lands in his lap involving a corrupt insurance company and a grieving family. John Slattery co-stars as legal heavyweight Leo Drummond, with Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, and Robyn Cara rounding out the ensemble.
The show is produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, with a 10-episode first season and hourlong runtime per episode. According to Seitzman, Baylor’s underdog fight is intact—but this version of The Rainmaker is sharper, sexier, and built to binge.
