Reba McEntire’s New Sitcom “Happy’s Place” Ordered by NBC

NBC has ordered a new sitcom starring Reba McEntire for the 2024-25 season. The multi-camera comedy series, titled “Happy’s Place,” marks a reunion for the cast and crew of the show “Reba”, which aired from 2001 to 2007.

In “Happy’s Place,” McEntire portrays Bobbie, who inherits her father’s restaurant but is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The half-sister will be played by Belissa Escobedo, known for her roles in “Hocus Pocus 2” and “Blue Beetle.”

Melissa Peterman, who co-starred with McEntire in “Reba,” will also join the cast of “Happy’s Place.” Peterman will play Gabby, a longtime bartender at the restaurant who wishes she was Bobbie’s sister.

The series will also feature Rex Linn, McEntire’s real-life boyfriend, as a taciturn cook named Emmett. Linn is known for his roles in “Young Sheldon” and Yellowstone.

Other cast members include Tokala Black Elk, Pablo Castelblanco, and Cheryl Francis Harrington. Black Elk, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and a direct descendant of the Lakota holy man Black Elk, will play a kindly waiter with handyman skills named Takoda. Castelblanco, known for his role in Alaska Daily, will portray Steve, the restaurant’s accountant who works at the bar and dislikes change.

“Happy’s Place” is produced by Universal Television and will be available on Peacock. The show is written by Kevin Abbott, who also serves as showrunner. Abbott will be joined by Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Julie Abbott, and McEntire as executive producers.

The premiere date for “Happy’s Place” has not yet been announced, but it is expected to air during the 2024-25 season on NBC.
