From the comfortable world of “Packed to the Rafters” to the bright lights and fake tan of “Dancing With The Stars,” Australian TV favorite Rebecca Gibney is trying something completely different. She’s hanging up her acting shoes for dancing ones and is ready to waltz, tango, and maybe even attempt a few more modern moves when she steps onto the dance floor for the new season of Channel 7’s celebrity competition.
A multi-Gold Logie winner, Gibney has been a much-loved presence in Australian homes for years. While she’s certainly used to being in the spotlight, the ballroom is a whole new arena. She’s been paired with professional dancer Ian Waite, and together they’ll face the judges and the public vote.
Gibney joins a group of familiar faces all hoping to win the shiny Mirror Ball Trophy. The lineup includes Brittany Hockley, Felicity Ward, Harry Garside, Karina Carvalho, Kyle Shilling, Mia Fevola, Michael Usher, Osher Günsberg, Shaun Micallef, Susie O’Neill, and Trent Cotchin. With that mix of people, you can definitely expect some fun moments and interesting differences in skill on the dance floor.
Channel 7 hasn’t given us a firm premiere date yet, just hinting that the new season is “coming soon.”
