A Decade of Fundraising to End Child Poverty with Star-Studded Support
NBC’s Red Nose Day marks its 10th anniversary with a special episode, “Cheers to Ten Years,” airing on Thursday, May 23. The hour-long special reflects on the campaign’s impact, looking at memorable moments and the positive change it has brought to children’s lives worldwide.
Since its launch in the US in 2015, Red Nose Day, organized by Comic Relief US, has raised over $370 million, helping more than 35 million children. The annual fundraising campaign aims to end child poverty by providing essential support and services, including medical care, food, shelter, education, and empowerment programs.
The episode celebrates this milestone by featuring some of the most hilarious and heartwarming moments from past Red Nose Days. From Coldplay’s “Game of Thrones” musical parody to basketball with Paul Rudd and Blake Griffin, and Kate McKinnon’s “SNL” sketch, the special promises to deliver laughter and emotion.
Additionally, the special will highlight how donations have directly impacted and improved the lives of children and families globally. The campaign’s signature red noses have become an iconic symbol, with celebrities and individuals showing their support by donning them.
This year, NBC and Comic Relief US have expanded their partnerships to increase their reach and impact. They are collaborating with The LEGO Group’s ‘Build the Change‘ social impact program, Snapple’s Snapple Rewards Program, and Chuck E. Cheese, which is donating a portion of its sales on May 23 to turn fun into much-needed funds.
Over the years, Red Nose Day has brought together a stellar lineup of celebrities, including Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Garner, Jack Black, Julia Roberts, and John Legend, to name a few. The campaign has also featured special episodes of popular NBC shows, with celebrities venturing to remote locations to deliver life-saving vaccines.
For its 10th anniversary, Red Nose Day introduces a new digital Red Nose filter for social media platforms, making it even easier for people to show their support and get involved.
