How a band whose reputation was built on volatile behavior, toxic addictions, and massive ego battles managed to stay together long enough to break sales records and reimagine rock is the subject of Guns N’ Roses: America’s Most Dangerous Band. Jonathan Cain, songwriter and keyboardist for Journey, recounts the band’s rise and fall in popularity, as well as their remarkable resurgence, in his memoir Journey: A Voice Lost… and Found.

This new original story about Eric Wright, better known as Eazy-E, who, in 1987, founded the gangster rap group N.W.A and included a then-unknown Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, will kick off the music-themed lineup for the month of June 2023. Eazy-E’s songs made millions of dollars and earned him legions of fans despite their shocking lyrics about drugs, women, and hatred for authority. However, Eazy-E’s life and career were cut tragically short when he was only 30 years old, raising suspicions among his friends and family and casting a pall of uncertainty over his final days. Exhumation: The Final Hours of… On June 4 at 9 PM ET/ 6 PM PT, discusses his influence on rap music and the events leading up to his untimely death.
Then, on Sunday, June 11 at 9PM ET/ 6PM PT, Prince: The Final Secret tells the life story of the nearly 40-year-long career that made him a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist, singer, songwriter, producer, actor, director, and entertainment icon. His reputation has only grown since his passing, and his biggest secret has finally been exposed, revealing a selfless man who used his fortune to improve the lives of others. Michael Bland, Levi Seacer, Jr., and Prince’s recording engineer David Z. Rifkin, among many others, share their memories of playing with Prince and The New Power Generation.
Appetite for Destruction, the first studio album by the rock band Guns N’ Roses, sold over 30 million copies and spawned several top 10 singles. The album’s title was a portent of things to come. Guns N’ Roses: America’s Most Dangerous Band premieres on Sunday, June 18 at 9PM ET/ 6PM PT on AXS TV and tells the explosive story of the band that broke new ground with its brand of absolute chaos, but whose sales, success, and authenticity were unrivaled. Guns N’ Roses’ meteoric rise and spectacular fall were propelled by frontman Axl Rose’s wild life story, fiery ego, and artistic brilliance. Guns N’ Roses have learned to control the chaos that helped them succeed, and their upcoming 38-show world tour will help cement their place in history.
To say that Journey also had problems with their lead singer would be grossly understating the situation. On Sunday, June 25 at 9PM ET/ 6PM PT, the documentary Journey: A Voice Lost… and Found will air, detailing the band’s incredible rise to fame and how the distinctive voice of lead singer Steve Perry became the band’s defining characteristic. After reaching the pinnacle of their success, Perry quit the band, forcing Journey to move forward with a new frontman. Fans were split down the middle on the band’s new direction, with Perry’s distinctive voice serving as the fulcrum. Former Journey frontman Jeff Scott Soto opens up about facing backlash from diehard fans. The band Journey endured the loss of their lead singer twice before finding a new one who would carry on Perry’s musical legacy. Journey, a band that has been together for half a century, just finished their 50th anniversary celebration freedom tour, playing 38 shows across the United States and Canada in April.
