The Rehearsal: Gotta Have Fun (HBO, Sunday, April 20, 2025)

Nathan Fielder, the mastermind of awkward and meticulously planned social experiments, returns to HBO this Sunday with the season two premiere of “The Rehearsal.” If the title, “Gotta Have Fun,” is anything to go by, we’re in for another dose of Fielder’s signature blend of cringe humor and unexpected insights into the human condition.

What exactly does Fielder have planned this time? HBO is keeping details close to the vest, saying only that he’s decided to “put his resources into something big.” Given his penchant for elaborate simulations and meticulous recreations of everyday life, “big” could mean anything from faking a space mission to rehearsing for a lifetime of grocery shopping.

For those unfamiliar with the show, Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by rehearsing them in painstakingly detailed simulations of his own design. With a construction crew, actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, he creates a world where anything is possible, often with hilarious and occasionally profound results. Will this season bring more of the awkward encounters, unexpected twists, and strangely poignant moments that made the first season so memorable? Tune in to HBO this Sunday at 10:40 PM ET to find out.
