The husband-and-wife duo of Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama return to HGTV this Tuesday with another dose of Hawaiian home renovation in “Renovation Aloha.” This time, their project hits close to home, both literally and figuratively. In “Historic Challenges,” the Kalamas take on a fixer-upper in their hometown of Kailua, aiming to help a family in dire need of a new place to live.
The house, with its prime location near the water, seems like a dream project. But paradise comes with a price, as the Kalamas quickly discover. Permitting complications threaten to derail the entire renovation, forcing them to think outside the box and find creative solutions to keep things on schedule.
With a tight deadline looming, the couple must rely on their ingenuity – and the support of their extensive family, many of whom work in construction – to overcome the bureaucratic hurdles and deliver a dream home to a deserving family.
