HGTV continues its love affair with Hawaii this week with the return of “Renovation Aloha.” Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama, the brother-sister duo with a penchant for transforming dilapidated properties, are tackling an abandoned, junk-filled house in Pearl City. Think “Fixer Upper” meets “Island Life,” with a dash of family drama thrown in for good measure.
The house reportedly has rotted floors and is filled with, well, junk. This isn’t just a renovation; it’s an archaeological dig. Will the Kalamas uncover any hidden treasures amidst the debris, or will they just find a lot of old newspapers and broken furniture? And how will they honor the legacy of the original homeowners while also creating a modern, functional living space?
The Kalamas have a large extended family, which usually translates to a lot of free labor on these shows. Will we see the usual heartwarming scenes of family members pitching in, or will there be some dramatic disagreements about design choices? I’m hoping for a healthy mix of both.
“Renovation Aloha: Junk in Pearl City” airs Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 9:00 PM on HGTV.
