Renovating homes in Hawaii sounds idyllic, but on HGTV’s “Renovation Aloha,” paradise can quickly turn into a construction nightmare. This Tuesday, Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama face a trifecta of trouble as they tackle their latest project: squatters, termites, and the relentless roar of a nearby freeway.
In “Termites, Squatters and Freeways,” the couple’s year-long wait to start a renovation turns chaotic when they discover their property has been taken over by squatters. The resulting delays and unexpected damage manage to make this already challenging project even more challenging. As if battling invasive insects and unwanted houseguests weren’t enough, Tristyn also has to contend with the property’s less-than-ideal location, devising soundproofing solutions to block out the constant freeway noise.
Born and raised on O’ahu, Tristyn and Kamohai bring a local touch to their renovations, often enlisting the help of their large, construction-savvy family. Will the Kalama’s resourcefulness and family support be enough to overcome these obstacles? Tune in to HGTV on Tuesday, April 22 at 9:00 PM ET to find out.
