The Repair Shop: A Dress, a Drum, and a Clocking-in Clock (BBC One, Wednesday, February 5, 2025)

The Repair Shop Repairers

The Repair Shop returns, ready to tug at our heartstrings and remind us of the stories objects hold. This week, the team tackles a collection of treasured possessions, each with a poignant tale to tell.

A tattered lace dress, once worn by the late artist Lizzie, arrives in the capable hands of textile conservator Rebecca Bissonnet. The dress, more than just fabric and thread, served as Lizzie’s “creative rock” during her self-portraits, and the hope is to restore it in time for a posthumous exhibition of her work.

Meanwhile, Richard brings in a damaged drum, a relic of Padstow’s ‘Obby Oss Day’ festival. The drum carries the echoes of his late father, Pete, and its restoration is a tribute to his memory.

Elsewhere, a vintage clocking-in clock evokes childhood memories for Emma, whose family ran a street-lighting business. And, in a career first, bike restorer Tim Gunn tackles a polo bike and mallet.
