“The Repair Shop” is back on BBC One this Wednesday, and as always, it’s bringing a potent mix of heartwarming stories, remarkable craftsmanship, and the emotional weight of treasured family heirlooms. This week’s episode features a diverse array of items, each with its own unique history and connection to its owner.
Siblings Michelle and Paul bring in their late father’s unfinished children’s jeep, a project he started but never got to complete. Metalworker Dominic Chinea and electrical expert Mark Stuckey take on the challenge, hoping to bring a piece of their father’s love back to life. Meanwhile, Annette from Northern Ireland arrives with a Dutch doll, a gift from a peaceful exchange program during the Troubles. Soft toy restorers Amanda and Julie work their magic, aided by woodworker Will, who carves a new pair of clogs for the doll.
Elsewhere in the shop, Rebecca Davis presents a cherished fez hat from a childhood trip to Egypt, hoping master hatter Jayesh can restore its former glory. And Chris Cooke brings in a truly unique item: a soap sculpture carved by his grandfather’s campmate in a WWII prisoner-of-war camp in Thailand. Ceramics expert Kirsten faces a new challenge as she attempts to repair this fragile piece of history.
“The Repair Shop” airs Wednesday, April 9th at 8:00 PM on BBC One.
