On “XXL,” the fifth episode of new FOX series Rescue: HI-Surf, the North Shore lifeguards confront some of the most perilous ocean conditions in recent years. With Em off for the day, Sonny (Robbie Magasiva) appoints Laka (Kekoa Kekumano) as the acting lieutenant.
Laka joins Jenn Lamonde (Sea Shimooka) to tackle massive waves while Kainalu (Alex Aiono) faces pressure from his father to abandon his shift and assist with a campaign focused on beach patrols.
Meanwhile, Hina (Zoe Cipres) feels ready to operate the rescue skis, but chaos erupts when a fight breaks out among locals, putting Laka and Will’s (Adam Demos) plans in jeopardy.
The emotional stakes heighten for Sonny as he endures another loss.
The guest cast includes Kaʻenaaloha Watson as Ocean Jennings, Shawn Hatosy as Clayton Emerson and Makua Rothman as Rocky.
