Reuben Owen and his crew are hitting the road this Tuesday, July 1, at 8 PM BST on Channel 5, for what sounds like a proper Yorkshire adventure in Reuben: Life in the Dales. Episode 7 sees Reuben, alongside friends Tommy, Sonny, Capper, and younger brother Miles, setting off on a 100-mile trek across the Dales to the Whitby coast—all on vintage tractors.
The trip is meant to be a true test of their repair know-how, as old machines often mean old problems. Adding a sweet touch to the challenge, Reuben’s girlfriend, Jess, has taken charge of picking a suitable tractor to join the convoy, while also arranging balloons and a cake, stashed ingeniously under the engine of Tommy’s classic blue 1980s Ford. The whole outing coincides with Reuben’s 21st birthday, making it a unique way to mark the milestone.
Those familiar with Reuben’s work, from his early days restoring tractors on Our Yorkshire Farm, know he has a knack for getting these old machines running. But a 100-mile run, especially up some of the country’s steepest hills, is a tall order.
