BBC One presents a new four-part thriller this Monday with a twist: the story unfolds through the eyes of a deaf protagonist. “Reunion” introduces Daniel Brennan, a deaf man released from prison after serving ten years for murder. Consumed by thoughts of revenge, Brennan emerges into a world that has largely moved on without him. His family shuns him, leaving him isolated and determined to settle the score.
However, a chance encounter with his daughter, Carly, whom he hasn’t seen in years, throws his carefully laid plans into disarray. This unexpected reunion forces him to confront not only the ghosts of his past but also the possibility of a future he never imagined.
“Reunion” explores themes of isolation, revenge, and the complicated bonds of family. Matthew Gurney delivers a compelling performance as Daniel Brennan, conveying the inner turmoil of a man grappling with his past while trying to forge a connection with his daughter, played by Lara Peake. Rose Ayling-Ellis plays Miri Mokhtar, Eddie Marsan is Stephen Renworth and Anne-Marie Duff rounds out the cast as Christine Mokhtar.
Tune in to BBC One on Monday, April 7th at 9:00 PM for the premiere of “Reunion.”
